Terms of use
Last updated: 3 October 2026
True Home Cost is a free information service run by the operator named in our privacy notice ("we"). By using this site you agree to these terms. Contact: truehomecost@gmail.com.
1. Estimates, not bills or advice
The figures on this site are estimates for general guidance. They are not bills, quotes, valuations or financial, legal or tax advice, and they don't take your personal circumstances into account. Council tax figures depend on the band you choose and on average parish charges; energy and water figures are modelled from published data and typical use. Your actual costs will differ.
Before making a decision that matters, such as renting, buying or budgeting, check figures with the council, your energy and water suppliers, your landlord or agent, or a qualified adviser.
2. Our data sources
We use published public data from government bodies, regulators and industry, listed on our methodology page. We take care to keep it current, but we don't control these sources and can't guarantee that they, or our calculations, are complete, accurate or up to date.
3. Our liability
The site is provided free and "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its figures, including any financial loss or loss of opportunity.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
4. Using the site fairly
You may use the site for your own personal purposes. Please don't scrape it, overload it with automated requests, try to break its security, or use it for anything unlawful.
5. Content and data licences
The site's design, text and code belong to us. Public sector information is used under the Open Government Licence v3.0. You may share links to any page.
6. Independence
True Home Cost is independent. It is not run by, endorsed by or affiliated with any government department, council, regulator or supplier.
7. Links to other sites
We link to other websites, such as GOV.UK. We aren't responsible for their content.
8. Changes and availability
We may change the site, these terms, or stop the service at any time. The date at the top shows the latest version.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
